Blown out job ADs

It’s pretty common on job ADs to leave off business/program management contacts and blow out the AD with Silicon Valley and growth rate fillers.

It’s also pretty common to delegate the 1st-stage interview with an in-demand candidate to the HR department.

While it preserves the ‘precious’ management time, the above suggests two things:

  • The candidate is not important enough to spend any time with.
  • The candidate queries about the project, the technology, and the way of working will go unanswered.

However, an in-demand candidate does ‘not’ need to be there. If you want to be in the best possible chance of attracting that candidate, make time to do the 1st stage interview.
